Scientists have strapped cameras onto US Navy dolphins in a bid to capture first-person footage of their activities.

Ever wondered what it would be like to be a dolphin ?

In a recent experiment, researchers equipped some of the US Navy’s own militarized dolphins with cameras and let them loose in the open sea to record their daily activities.

The dolphins have been specially trained to identify mines, attack enemy divers and more, however most of the time they just act like regular dolphins – swimming around and catching fish to eat.

During the experiment, researchers were intrigued by the sheer number of different types of sea creatures that the dolphins gobbled up in the waters off San Diego Bay, California.

They also found it interesting how the dolphins seemed to ‘suck’ fish straight down their throats.

“Fish continued escape swimming even as they entered the dolphins’ mouth, yet the dolphin appeared to suck the fish right down,” they wrote.

You can check out some of the footage below (it can be a bit disorienting!)
