A new survey has indicated that more than half of Americans believe that they’re loved ones have come back to visit them.
It is perhaps one of the most common types of ghost story – someone you know, whether it be a friend, pet or family member – manifesting either in dreams or even in person to visit after they’ve died.
Now according to a new survey by Pew Research, as many as 53% of adults in the US believe that they have personally experienced a visit of this kind at some point during their lives.
In addition, 34% claimed to have experienced the presence of a dead relative within the last month and 15% have even claimed to have experienced a dead relative attempting to communicate with them.
Around 28% said they had shared the events of their life with their supernatural visitor.
The survey found that women were more likely than men to report such experiences.
Moderately religious people (as oppose to very or slightly religious) were also among those who were most likely to believe that they had been visited by a dead relative.
