A recently published video clip shows a huge gorilla tenderly petting a tiny groundhog at Detroit Zoo.
The silverback gorilla, whose name is Kongo, took a liking to the animal during feeding time at the zoo, resulting in a clip that has since warmed the hearts of thousands of social media users.
In the video Kongo can be seen very gently patting the groundhog with his huge hands.
The tiny animal didn’t seem too fazed by the gorilla’s presence, despite the enormous size difference.
The footage is both heartwarming and intriguing as it demonstrates the fascination that the gorilla had with the groundhog, as well as its efforts to be gentle with his new-found friend.
Perhaps the gorilla perceived the animal in much the same way as we look upon dogs and cats.
