The woman, who hails from Midland County, believed that the elusive cryptid was skulking around outside her home.
The bizarre incident occurred on February 1st at around 9:45pm when the woman dialed 911 to report that she had seen a Chupacabra – along with a capybara – outside her apartment.
The actual recording from Midland County Central Dispatch at the time has since been posted online.
“She’s reporting an animal out back,” the dispatcher can be heard saying. “She believes possibly it could be a Chupacabra.”
“What’s the animal?” an officer asks.
“A Chupacabra, sir, she described it,” the dispatcher replies.
“There’s been a high amount of sightings of those in that area lately, by the way,” the officer notes.
In this case, however, upon arriving at the woman’s home, officers were quickly able to determine that there was no such creature at the premises and that the woman’s intoxicated state may have had something to do with the call.
“She honestly somehow believed those animals may have been there,” said Sheriff Myron Greene.
