Rice University professor and prime mover of the recent Archives of the Impossible conference Jeffrey Kripal thinks he’s diagnosed “the basic malaise of the humanities,” the subject of his forthcoming book. Bryan Sentes has some reservations about Kripal’s reasoning, if not his goal. (See Bryan’s A Bad Omen? An All-Too Preliminary Note on a Detail of Jeffrey Kripal’s Superhumanities, which we previously reviewed.) In Some Notes on a Conversation with Hussein Ali Agrama and Jeffrey J. Kripal during that March 3-6 Archives conference, Bryan tasks the dialoguers for lack of familiarity with both pertinent ufological and philosophical works. And in Further Untimely Thoughts on Jeffrey Kripal’s Superhumanities Bryan observes points of similarity, difference, and perhaps future fruitful conversation about the “Superhumanities” and their possible role in informing society.
