The former MoD UFO investigator has suggested that alien monitoring devices could be disguised as common animals.
One of the most prominent figures in the field of UFO research, Nick Pope famously worked for the British Ministry of Defense from 1991 to 1994 during which time he was tasked with investigating reports of unidentified flying objects to determine whether or not they posed a risk to national security.
Speaking to The Mirror recently, Pope put forward the suggestion that if an advanced extraterrestrial race wanted to monitor our activities here on Earth without raising suspicion, all it would need to do is disguise its monitoring devices as common types of animals that nobody would look twice at.
“If aliens want to hack into and control a living organism, or construct a drone that’s a perfect mimic, it would be best to choose something ordinary and ubiquitous, like a seagull or a housefly,” he said.
“Something you wouldn’t normally pay much attention to, perhaps.”
“But all the time, it would be spying on us, recording everything, and sending information about us back to the alien homeworld.”
While the idea might sound far fetched, it does at least have some merit – it is not unreasonable to imagine that an alien race may be able to perfectly replicate the appearance and behaviors of birds, for instance, especially given the level of technology that such a civilization may have access to.
There are even examples of human-made robots designed to look and behave like insects.
“The military and the intelligence agencies have things that look like they come out of a sci-fi movie or a James Bond film,” said Pope.
“There are some real-life Qs out there, for sure, so just imagine what an alien Q could do!”
